We asked the ex-model, blogger, TV star and just a beauty about how she worked with Ksenia Sobchak, Vlad Lisovets and Denis Simachev, what she teaches the participants and where she feels at home - in Russia or Italy.

- Natalya, you were the host of four seasons of a reality showItalia'sNextTopModel. Why did you decide to take part in the Russian version of the project?

I was invited and I happily agreed. I worked in four seasons of the Italian project, and until the Italian producers began filming the fifth, I was invited to star in the Russian version. After all, I can explain and tell the participants of the show a lot, since I have been associated with the fashion world since 1991. It was then that I won the Look of the year beauty contest in Moscow, which was organized by the founder of the New York modeling agency Elite John Casablancas. I worked as a model for several years, traveled all over the world, and am still connected with fashion; I am constantly invited to shows and various projects makeover format. I have a lot to teach the participants of the show, because I know very well what, for example, a photo shoot and the fear of going on the podium are. I tell our girls how to behave better while working. And they perceive me perfectly well, because I only tell them about what I myself experienced.

- In your opinion, how does the Italian project differ from the Russian one?

Perhaps the Russian version is much richer, because there are many difficult tests. In each series we have two or three competitions and master classes, where I also teach. If we talk about the participants in the Italian and Russian projects, then I know that all the girls take participation in the show very seriously, because, in addition to the fact that this is a new experience and an opportunity to understand what the modeling business is, for many it is also good start in the profession. Italian women are very spoiled by beauty, because they live in a country where the canons of style were born, which are passed on to them, as they say, with their mother’s milk. Russian girls are, of course, the most beautiful in the world and also very smart: they all study or work somewhere, in addition to the modeling business, knowing full well that beauty alone will not get you far.

- What qualities do you think a model should have in order to win the show “Russian Top Model”?

I want to say only one thing: just being beautiful is not enough. Appearance is the base from which you need to build. In addition to beauty, you need character and desire, you need to be able to present yourself, it is important to be charismatic and exceptional. And this is the only way to become a top model. You look at some top models and you realize that many of them are not classic beauties with perfect facial features, but there is something about them that you can’t take your eyes off. The look, the message, the energy - something has to catch your eye. The modeling business is only very beautiful in appearance - in fact it is a very cruel world.

How tough is the competition between the girls on the show “Russian Next Top Model”? Was there any competition? Maybe someone was cutting each other's hairpins?

According to the rules of the show, there are two groups of girls on the project: 10 girls who live abroad, but with Russian roots, and 10 native Russian girls. Everyone has different worldview, different cultures. Sometimes it’s easier for foreigners, because they are very relaxed and are not afraid to make mistakes. We are always afraid to say something wrong, we worry about what they will think of us. The participants live together and exchange experiences. I already see progress: Russian girls began to behave much more freely, and foreigners became more serious.

We didn’t have a situation where anyone harmed anyone, because all the girls understand: participation in the project for them is, first of all, school. I often tell them: “You are lucky to be here. And although only one of you will win, the rest will gain a great experience.” Every day the best photographers, stylists and other professionals work with the participants. For example, Maria Fedorova, editor-in-chief of Glamor magazine, told them about the history of fashion. We still very often had Laura Lukina - general manager modeling agency Point Model Management. She explained how girls should behave at the casting. Yes, I myself give advice to the participants, I behave like a mother, because I am very worried about them. I encourage them to be self-sufficient and improve themselves all the time.

Were there any incidents on set? I heard, for example, that one of the participants fainted right at the grand opening of the show. How did this happen?

Sofia fainted due to excitement, and she also did not have a chance to eat that day. I remember, although it was the end of September, it turned out to be a very sunny and hot day. Filming took place on the square in front of the Bolshoi Theater. The girls were dressed in long evening dresses to the floor - it’s hard to even sit down in such an outfit. Perhaps the models were embarrassed to ask for water or food, since they were standing all the time and waiting for their turn. After that incident, I scolded them strongly. After all, the model must organize her own nutrition: take water, light food. No one will run after them! And not a single client will like the fact that a model faints because she didn’t eat enough or didn’t drink enough.

We didn't have any more incidents. Unless the girls passed difficult tests. For example, they had a photo shoot with wild animals. Someone had to film with a real bear. And although the bear cub was small, no one knew how he would behave. After all, the beast is not a toy at all. And the girls had to act with him and pretend that they were not afraid of anything. I know what it is, since I myself often participated in photo shoots with different animals.

How did you work together with Ksenia Sobchak, Vlad Lisovets and Denis Simachev? Which of them, in your opinion, is the strictest judge?

It was very easy for me to work with everyone. We are a close-knit team and tried to help everyone. Denis Simachev is perhaps a little tougher than others, since he is a designer and always clearly knows what he needs. Ksenia Sobchak generally has a lot of experience, since she has already hosted the program in previous seasons, and also works in glossy magazines. Therefore, she understands perfectly what girls need and explains everything to them in an understandable way. Vlad Lisovets is very gentle and sincere. Everyone loved him very much, because it’s impossible not to love Vlad. I know this very well, since we are good friends. Overall, it was a great team. And we made decisions about who should leave the project together. Although we had different points point of view, we always had a conversation and came to a common agreement, so the work was very easy and comfortable.

- Is it easy for you to live in two countries? How much time do you spend in Russia and how much time in Italy?

Since 1996, I have been closely involved in television in Italy, and since 2007 I have been constantly coming to Russia. First she hosted the program “Take it off immediately!”, then “ Big dance" and "Battle of the Choirs". And I’m so used to it that I can’t even imagine how I’ll live in just one place. It’s as if my heart was split in two: I’m both Russian and Italian. I feel at home in both countries.

- What was the most difficult thing to get used to in Italy?

In Italy, on the contrary, it is always a little easier for me. In Russia, when I was in school, there was very strict discipline, and we were told that we had to know everything and be the smartest. All day long I either studied or played sports: I went swimming twice a day. When I arrived in Italy, I realized that everything is much simpler here. Here people are not afraid to make mistakes or say that they don’t know something. I learned this too. After all, if you stumble or say something wrong, nothing bad will happen.

- What are your favorite places in Italy?

There are many of them. Italy is absolutely magnificent! This is very beautiful country. I like the positivity of Italians. And I will always thank them for the way they accepted me. After all, literally a few months after I arrived here, I already appeared on television. They always greeted me with a smile and were very interested in me. For them, I was associated with Russia, with Moscow.

- Do you miss Russia? What do you miss most when you are in Italy?

When I went to Russia less often, I missed everything. I missed talking to my family and friends. I especially missed our dishes, for example, the pancakes that my grandmother baked for me every Sunday. I really like sour cream, which is not available in Italy. And about lightly salted cucumbers They haven't heard it here at all. And of course, I missed the Russian Olivier salad. By the way, in one of my broadcasts on Italian television, I showed the audience how to prepare such a salad... But now I have absolutely no time to be bored, because I now live in two countries.

- By the way, how do you maintain such excellent shape? Do you follow a diet or exercise?

Of course, any model should take care of itself. But you can’t follow a strict diet or starve yourself, you just need to eat right. For example, I really love fruits, vegetables, rice, buckwheat. And dumplings already seem tasteless to me, because after them it becomes very difficult. I love pizza, but I only allow myself once every two to three weeks. Also, of course, you can’t overeat at night. I exercise regularly and see that it gives good results. So if you re-educate your body, it will thank you later.

- How would you feel if your daughter decides to become a model?

My daughter is now 14 years old. She studies at the Lyceum and is interested in photography. Whatever she does, I will always support her and tell her what I usually tell all girls: the main thing is to first get a profession, an education. However, my daughter herself understands this very well, because she has the example of her parents before her eyes. I myself am a metallurgical engineer by profession, although I have never worked in my specialty. Her dad, my husband, worked as a model for many years, but also graduated from university and studied to be a lawyer. Yes, you yourself understand that in our world it is impossible to be only a model, because you won’t last long in this business!

Many Russians know Natasha Stefanenko from the “Take it off immediately” program. It was no coincidence that the statuesque blonde became the host of this project. She has behind her the best catwalks in Europe and extensive experience working on television in Italy.

Biography

Natasha was born on April 18, 1971 in a small town in the Sverdlovsk region. Her father worked as a nuclear engineer, and her mother was a teacher in kindergarten. Natalya grew up as a lively and active girl. She preferred to communicate with boys, so she had practically no friends.

Stefanenko studied at school with “good” and “excellent” marks. Her favorite subjects were music, drawing and physical education. The girl also attended the swimming section. She had every chance of making it to the Olympic team this species sports, but at some point she changed her plans for the future. After school, Natasha followed in her father's footsteps and entered the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys. After graduating, the girl received a diploma as a metallurgical engineer.

In her final year, Natalya took part in the “Look of the Year” beauty contest. It was conducted by the director of the Elite agency, John Casablancas (New York). The girl came to the competition with her friends. They were unable to pass the casting, but the tall, blue-eyed Stefanenko attracted the attention of the members of the selection committee.

John Casablancas invited Natasha to become a model and work in the USA. The girl was confused, but eventually refused the offer. In the near future, she planned to defend her diploma and work in her specialty. After graduating from university, Stefanenko tried to find a job, but to no avail. The Russian crisis of the early 90s had its effect. And then Natalya finally decided to try herself in the modeling business. Through the agency, she obtained a visa and went to work in Italy.

Catwalk and television

Initially, Natasha worked as a fashion model, and then went on the podium. In Europe, girls with a type like hers were in demand. Stefanenko, with a height of 185 centimeters, weighed 60 kilograms. Any designer clothes fit perfectly on her. In a short time, Natalya became a sought-after model.

Soon the girl found herself on television. One day, in a restaurant, a director noticed Natalia and invited her to become a presenter on television. Stefanenko, knowing how foreigners deceive young girls, refused the unexpected job. And then a persistent man found her through an agency and signed a contract with her for 17 broadcasts.

The girl was required to smile at her TV presenter partner and remain silent, but the model did not want to be just a beautiful “doll” in the frame. In a short time, Natalya learned Italian perfectly and began to confidently act on air. After her success on the TV show, Stefanenko received a lot of interesting offers from Italian employers. She walked the catwalk, hosted television programs, acted in films and played in plays.

In 2007, representatives of the Russian TV channel STS contacted Natalya and offered to become the host of the program “Take it off immediately!” She took time to think about it and eventually agreed. First, Natalya’s co-host was Maria Zheleznyakova, and then Tasha Strogaya.

In 2012, Stefanenko began hosting entertainment program"Battle of the Choirs" 2 seasons of the show were released. In 2014, Natalya was approved as the host of the popular project “Top Model in Russian. International season."

Currently, active Stefanenko lives in 2 countries. She manages not only to act for magazines and host television projects in Russia and Italy, but also to pay attention to her husband and daughter.

Personal life

Natalya met her fate in Italy. In 1993 she met Luca Sabbioni. The guy studied at a law school and worked part-time as a model. A few months after they met, Luka confessed his love to Natalya. They began to live together, and in 1995 they formalized their relationship. In 2000, the couple had a daughter, Alexandra.

Sabbioni supports all of Natalia’s endeavors. He not only calmly lets her go to work in Moscow, but he himself often comes here with his wife and daughter.
