Rating of gas equipment for cars. What gas equipment is best to install?

We choose 4th generation HBO.

Sooner or later, any car enthusiast is faced with the issue of purchasinggas equipmentto your car. This is understandable, because the difference in price of a propane-butane mixture, compared to gasoline, is almost three times. But how to choose it? What are the subtleties and nuances when choosingHBO? In this article we will look at all the subtleties of choosing4th generation gas equipmentfor an average car with a 4-cylinder engine andcylinder for the spare tire.

We chose a car with a power of up to 140 hp as a basis for good reason. After all, 90% of salesHBOfalls precisely on such cars. Such cars are often used by taxi services; these types of cars are regularly purchased for family trips and for work in the city.

So let's proceed directly to the selection of components.

Let's figure out what components we need for a complete set of HBO.

    Gas cylinder for spare tire

    Multivalve

    Refueling unit (VZU)

    Main tube

    Filling tube

    Connecting fittings

    Tube mounting brackets

    Electronics kit

    Gas reducer

    Gas injectors

    Fine filter

    Antifreeze tees

    Antifreeze pipes

    Gas pipes

    Vacuum pipe

Now let's go through each position in more detail.

Gas cylinder

First of all, let's look at the choice gas cylinder. In most cases, the choice of a car owner with a spare wheel R 13-R 14 is a cylinder with a capacity 42 liters size 600x200. This size of the gas tank is primarily due to its optimal dimensions; the cylinder is installed in a niche provided for the spare wheel, thus saving you from unevenness in the flooring of your trunk and from unnecessary noise, respectively.

In choice gas cylinder the manufacturer does not play such a significant role. All cylinders are made from high-quality metal using modern equipment and are tested before they go on sale. We settled on a cylinder made in Belarus, Novogas, this choice was due to the good price (the difference is 10 euros) and the quality of the metal.

It is worth noting that cylinders There are both new and used ones brought from Europe. We only consider new products, because only they can guarantee you safety and reliability in operation.

Multivalve

The choice of multivalve is also a very important point. They are: A-class,B -class andE -class. The difference in them is determined by the presence of a safety valve. In multivalves B -class there is none and this does not comply with safety standards, because in the presence of excess pressure there is a possibility of damage to the body of the gas cylinder or the multivalve itself. Such multivalves are produced only by Turkish factories, because B -Class is already prohibited for use in Europe. A -Class multivalves provide a safety valve that will protect you and the passengers of your car.

For multivalves E -class worth paying special attention to. This model is similar to A -class, but the main difference is the solenoid valve, which shuts off the gas supply when the ignition is not turned on. This ensures the maximum level of safety and eliminates the leakage of the entire gas mixture if the line breaks.

When choosing a manufacturer, we settled on the Italian brand Tomasetto. This choice is due to the optimal price-quality ratio in comparison with similar models from other brands in this segment.

Multivalve A-Class Multivalve E-Class

Gas station

Gas station(further VZU) comes complete with multivalve. Not uncommon when purchasing HBO set the seller replaces the original one gas station to a cheaper option. Such a substitution is difficult to detect for an inexperienced buyer. Be sure to check all components when purchasing!

VZU there are two types:

a) external remote device - installed in the car bumper or on the tow bar.

b) filling unit in the gas tank flap- this type VZU It differs in its design from the external type in its compact size and the presence of an adapter in the kit.

Gas lines and fittings

Particular attention should be paid to the choice gas main. There are two types, let's look at each of them.

First type gas main- This classic version copper tube in PVC braid. Such gas pipelines used with first HBO systems. Disadvantages include very low elasticity and oxidation when reacting with propane-butane mixture. Low elasticity will be a significant drawback when installing a pipeline in hard-to-reach places, and oxidation is a consequence of entering into a reaction propane-butane mixtures with copper tube. Thus, the walls of the tube peel off and thereby clog coarse filter.

The second type of gas line is a modern thermoplastic tube from an Italian plant. FARO " Made from modern materials using the latest developments of Italian specialists. This model is particularly durable and elastic, which in turn makes installation of equipment more convenient and quick. The thermoplastic tube is connected to the multivalve and gas reducer with special connections (fittings). Fittings can be angled or straight and are selected according to the type of car.

Gas lines They are attached to the bottom of the car with specialized brackets. It is recommended to purchase such staples in PVC braid, because... when vibrating, they can damage the walls over time gas main.

Electronics kit

With electronics things are a little more complicated. First of all, let's figure out which manufacturer you should choose. Over our seven-year practice, we have collaborated with 99% of manufacturers gas equipment. Some of them made a revolution in this segment, while others, on the contrary, remained faithful to the classical systems. Our choice was a Polish manufacturer STAG. This manufacturer is on the market gas equipment for more than 30 years and annually introduces consumers to the modern developments of its specialists. Another feature of this manufacturer is a 3-year warranty on all equipment.

The latest STAG range features three control units for four-cylinder engines: 200 Gofast, QBOX basic and QBOX plus. The most popular controller from the entire line is STAG 200 Gofast. This controller is equipped with a 32-bit processor and automotive components. This control unit for the gas equipment system is equipped with all the basic functionality and is very easy to install. That is why most car enthusiasts choose the 200 Gofast.

We will try to analyze the components of all blocks in more detail in the future in a separate article. Below we provide a comparison table of all three STAG control units.

Gas reducer

Choice gas reducer for 4th generation HBO systems the matter is quite simple. The main manufacturers of gearboxes are Tomasetto And STAG. Gearboxes are selected according to the vehicle's horsepower. U Tomasetto the most popular model is Tomasetto AT -09 Alaska designed up to 140 hp, STAG in turn this STAG R 01 . Both gearboxes are quite stable in operation. The main difference between these models is the remote gas valve in the version STAG and built-in gas valve with filter in Tomasetto. Accessories for gearboxes (repair kits, coils, valves, antifreeze corners) are always in stock and available for order in our store.

Gas injectors

Gas injectors in systems 4th generation gas equipment play an important role. In many cases, the lack of stability in the operation of the system, as well as the loss of vehicle power, is a consequence of the wrong choice gas injectors for cars. Gas injectors can be divided into two categories: budget and premium. Budget options include injectors Valtek And Digitronic. This model is the most common in our market. The main advantages are price and ease of maintenance. Such injectors run from 40 thousand km to 100 thousand km.

This category can also include injectors OMVL. This model is not much more expensive than those described above injectors, it is more stable and reliable in operation, but still up to a premium level injectors she falls short. It is also worth noting that both models are collapsible and repairable. Repair kits for gas injectors you can find in our HBO online store.

To the premium segment gas injectors includes three manufacturers: HANA , Barracuda And AEB. The first two models are almost identical. They are supplied with already calibrated fittings, which are selected according to the vehicle’s power, have two mounting options (in a frame and single) and show very high performance on stands. When choosing, be guided by the availability of the warranty and the price in your city. Perhaps this is one of the main factors in this duel. Third manufacturer AEB has only one model in its range. The main feature is the type of injectors- they are membrane and collapsible. This type injectors It is considered very reliable in operation.

Fine filter

Complete with electronics always present fine filter. It is installed in front injectors and serves for filtering propane-butane mixtures in the vapor phase. Given filter changes after a run of 10 thousand km.

Filters are also classified into two types. The first option is classic filter thin cleaning in the form of a barrel. He copes with his task 100%. The manufacturer offers an alternative and higher quality fine filter option ALEX. Given filter differs in its design, the main feature of which is the collection of condensate in the housing filter. This feature guarantees the most accurate and long-lasting operation. gas injectors HBO. Such filter It also changes after 10 thousand km.

Antifreeze tees

Antifreeze tees used for connection to a cooling system for heating purposes gas gearbox. Such tees There are three types: plastic, aluminum and brass. Each of these tees is quite reliable in operation. Tees are selected according to the size of the main antifreeze pipe.

Gas and antifreeze pipes

Antifreeze And gas The pipes are selected according to the type of your car. In most cases there are four types of pipes. Antifreeze diameter 16mm, gas diameter 12mm, gas 5mm diameter and vacuum diameter 4mm. There are enough of them, one meter each, in in rare cases you need to take with a small margin. Often this also depends on the experience of the master. The highest quality pipes produced Parker but they have one drawback - the price. Such pipes will cost you on average three times more. The most popular manufacturer of pipes is Fagumit And Semperit. Both factories are located in Poland and produce high-quality hoses at reasonable prices.

Definitely worth packing everything pipes clamping clamps. The highest quality clamps trademark Norma. There are also cheaper analogues, but as a rule they differ in their durability. In the kit we take 10 clamps 16-25 and 10 clamps 12-20. This will be enough to spare.

To summarize, it is worth noting that all the components indicated above are relevant at the time of writing. In rare cases HBO sets 4 generations are equipped with additional equipment such as variator advance ignition or protection system valves This already depends on the characteristics of your car.

In search of the best gas equipment, some motorists rely entirely on the opinion of the master, and some independently try to determine what is “good” and what is “bad,” believing that branded “hardware” is the main thing. Having 15 years of experience in this field, we can firmly say that 80% of the result depends on the “hands” of the installer. If they grow from the right place, then almost any equipment will work on your car. The only question is the frequency of maintenance. But more on that below.

And yet, what is and what is not worth paying attention to when choosing HBO? We will consider individual components of the most popular 4th generation injection systems.

Should not be considered when choosing HBO

  • Electronic control unit (ECU)

Today, any injection system certified in Russia has similar functionality. In rare cases (less than 1%), specific capabilities are required to “bridle” your iron horse. It is worth noting that the most common ECUs are produced by only two companies, but are supplied to the market under different brands: “AEB”/Italy (“Landi”, “OMVL”, “Lovato”, “Atiker”...), “AC” / Poland ( "STAG", "Digitronic"). It is not surprising that some installers specialize in “Italians”, and some in “Poles”. Perhaps it is worth excluding only the cheapest systems with poor (or absent) waterproofing and weak protection against overheating.

  • Cylinders

You shouldn’t be picky when choosing a cylinder manufacturer when it comes to propane-butane. All cylinder manufacturers, including Russian ones, have improved their quality
welding and painting. However, we note the leaders: “Balcity”/Russia, “STAKO”/Poland, “POLMOCON”/Poland, “ATIKER”/Turkey. Choose a cylinder by size, since any options are now available.

Consider when choosing HBO

  • Injectors

Let's quote the chorus famous song: “Our Russia is a terrible force!” And if the injector works reliably in Europe, then in our open spaces it faces a tough test. Large temperature changes, low pressure and the aggressive composition of the gas mixture - all this together creates conditions that few can withstand with dignity. And at the same time, the injector must have high performance and operating speed. After so many requirements, there are very few worthy options left. Below comparison table:

Injector ramps: BRC, OMVL, Lovato, Valtek (from left to right)

  • Pressure regulators (reducers)

In essence, this is an analogue of a gas pump, but instead of a pump, its own gas pressure is used. And this is one of the problems. In winter, with a low propane content in the gas mixture, the pressure in the cylinder can drop to a critical value of 2 bar, while the injectors need to receive gas at a pressure of 1.2-1.8 bar. And not all gearboxes are able to operate stably at low pressure.

If 5 years ago there was a tendency to create a compact gearbox according to the “all-inclusive” system, including to reduce production costs, now the reverse process is observed: gearboxes with an external gas valve appear (reliability and filtration quality increase), more expensive technologies are used to ensure stability and performance (piston gearboxes).

By the way, a few words about performance. There are powerful gearboxes in nature, but, as a rule, they have a “needle” locking system, which quickly becomes clogged with our Russian gas. Therefore, we have left in the comparison table only gearboxes with a proven “seat-valve” locking system:

Manufacturer Power/pressure stability rating Gas valve Service interval, thousand km. Place in the final ranking
LANDI LI02/Italy 8/10 External 100 1
OMVL CPR/Italy 10/8 External 60 2
BRC GENIUS/Italy 8/8 Built-in 80 3
EMER PALLADIO /Italy 10/10 Built-in 60 4
TOMASETTO ALASKA/Italy 8/5 Built-in 60 5
LOVATO RGJ /Italy 5/8 Built-in 30 6

A number of brands use TOMASETTO gearboxes, as the most budget-friendly ones, to complete their systems: DIGITRONIC, TAMONA, ALPHA. The purebred “Italians” LOVATO, OMVL, BRC maintain their originality and supply the market with systems in the original configuration.

LPG gearboxes: OMVL, Lovato, Tomasetto, BRC (from left to right)

Options to consider

HBO filters: Valtek rotary filter;
vortex filter with separator
condensate ULTRA 360 (from left to right)

- fine gas filter plays an important role in the stability of the injectors. Immediately eliminate filters with cardboard cartridges. Filters with a fiberglass cartridge work best. There are also more effective solutions with a condensate separator.

- sleeves and clamps Although they are a passive element of the system, if you try to save money they can cause engine damage. Low-quality hoses lose elasticity over time, which leads to leaks in the cooling system and gas circuit. Sleeves and clamps, as a rule, are not included in the HBO kit, and end up under your hood at the discretion of the technician. Below is a comparison table to help you make right choice:

It is best to use spring clamps (alas, there are low-grade samples from the Middle Kingdom) or stainless worm clamps. In any case, connections should be checked regularly for leaks.

Often the “dog is buried” in regular system checks. Our people are not used to taking care of either themselves or their cars. We run to the doctor/car mechanic when it already hurts/hums. What can we say about HBO. Clients think that since they were given a guarantee, they don’t need to do anything at all - just come and fix it when a problem arises. But this is far from true. And a free warranty should not be confused with regular paid maintenance. As an example, we will give recommendations for undergoing maintenance from one of the gas equipment manufacturers.

There are two main approaches to choosing gas equipment.

  • Selecting a completely finished kit from one manufacturer, for example or Prins. These kits work absolutely correctly (of course, subject to proper and high-quality installation), due to the fact that the system components were initially designed for use in one kit and the manufacturing quality of these components is at a very high level. All system parameters are known and included in the control unit. The only drawback of the systems is the price. As a rule, such equipment is installed on expensive cars.
  • Choosing a universal kit, such as Zenit, King, Stag, Tamona. The main feature of this electronics is that it can work with most known gas injectors and reducers. When choosing such a system, the LPG installer has additional responsibility for the correct selection of LPG components. Also, proper setup. An incorrectly selected gearbox or injectors can negatively affect the quality and reliability of the system as a whole. Unscrupulous installers tend to use the cheapest components. Which, of course, the client doesn’t even know about. So that you don’t find yourself in such a situation, let’s consider in detail how to choose the right main components of an LPG.

GBO reducer

The main function is to evaporate gas and maintain operating pressure in the system. Let's look at the main gearboxes presented on the Ukrainian market.

Tomasetto produces three types of gearboxes for distributed gas injection systems.

Basic, Alaska, Artic.

All of them have a single-stage design, equipped with a built-in solenoid safety valve and a liquid gas phase filter.

Very reliable and unpretentious design for gas quality. The valve dosing gas is made on a lever circuit, which has a positive effect on dosing accuracy and the ability to digest gas with foreign impurities.

One of the features that can be noted is the design of the emergency valve. When the pressure exceeds 3.5 bar, the membrane overcomes the spring force of the emergency valve, opens it and gas enters the unloading chamber. Which in turn is connected to the vacuum of the intake manifold. Accordingly, when the emergency valve is activated.

Gas enters intake manifold and from an excess of fuel, the engine stalls and the solenoid valve closes.

Without additional gas heater, designed for engines up to 90 hp.

It has an additional evaporated gas heater in its design. Designed for engines with power from 80 to 136 hp.

Has an additional liquid gas preheater. Designed for engines with power from 120 to 240 hp.

Gurtner reducer - Has a design similar to Tomasetto reducers, with the exception of the emergency valve, it is also reliable and not picky about gas quality. Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the “musicality” of this gearbox. It may make sounds during operation. Available in two versions 220 kWatt and 300 kWatt

HL-Propan

HL-Propan - has an original evaporator design, thanks to which, with a very small size, it is able to supply gas to motors with a power of up to 250 hp. Unfortunately, this is where all the advantages of this gearbox end.

Disadvantages: small resource, possibility of gas entering the cooling system.

Shark gearbox

Its characteristics are similar to the Tomasetto Alaska gearbox, but superior to it. Due to more powerful heating and an enlarged chamber for gas evaporation, it is able to work with engines up to 200 hp. The emergency valve is located in a separate unit, which has a positive effect on reliability and eliminates the leakage of gas into the intake manifold, which subsequently leads to difficulty starting on gasoline after a long stay.

Overall a very balanced, reliable gearbox.

HBO injectors

The main function is gas dosing. Correctly selected nozzles are the key to long, problem-free operation.

Valtek type 30

The simplicity of the design ensures high maintainability and the ability to digest low-quality gas. And because of their low cost, they have become very widespread. The main disadvantage is not very accurate gas dosing.

Due to the large plunger, they have high inertia in operation. For the same reason, they are highly temperature dependent, i.e. with large temperature differences, all other things being equal, they produce different portions of gas. Tamona and Zenit equipment have a temperature correction function, which almost completely eliminates this drawback.

Have huge amount clones such as Alex, Rail, Fema, Mimgas, etc.

Valtek type 34

Gas dosing accuracy has increased significantly compared to Valtek type 30

But there were also disadvantages. First of all, they are not repairable. The second is not a large resource (approximately 30-50 thousand km).

The accuracy of gas dosing is higher than that of Valtek type 30. Thanks to the plastic housing, the performance of the injector is practically independent of temperature, and can be used with electronics that do not take into account the temperature of the injectors.

Very high dosing accuracy. The main disadvantage is that they are afraid of oil in the gas (it gets into the gas from the transfer pumps). Even a small amount is enough to cause uneven operation. They are equipped with special filters with settling tanks. If clogged, you can clean it quickly enough.

The highest dosing accuracy, absolute linearity in operation, the absence of any temperature dependencies and the ability to easily digest dirty gas, all these qualities make this product an absolute leader. The only drawback is the price. These nozzles are supplied with Prins equipment.

Barracuda injectors

Barracuda injectors are distinguished by high precision, reliability and resistance to contamination. They are produced by the Polish manufacturer ALEX. Structurally and technical specifications These injectors are similar to the Japanese Keihin ones. It is worth noting that Barracuda injectors do not require calibration during operation.

The studies carried out showed high technological characteristics, long service life and have proven themselves in the market as a high-quality, reliable range of automotive equipment.

The question of which gas equipment is better to install is becoming increasingly relevant. And it interests a huge number of people who have lost all hope of normal gasoline prices. Doubts “to install or not to install” are a thing of the past; now the details of selection and installation are being considered.

Even the apparent loss of dynamism and power in some cases no longer bothers anyone if you need to drive actively and a lot, and preferably not at astronomical prices. In addition, you can take comfort in the benefits that come with the conversion.

These include reduced engine wear, the absence of spark plug soot (accordingly, they are needed), and detonation, and an extended oil shelf life. And there is a lower likelihood of being scammed at gas stations: unlike regular gasoline, it is not possible to dilute the gas (it seems that they have not yet figured out how to technically do this at gas stations). Unless you don't get enough of it.

Why natural gas?

  • Methane has several advantages over propane butane;
  • in terms of price it is much cheaper;
  • Methane consumption is comparable to gasoline costs: 1 cubic meter of gas is equal to 1 liter of gasoline. As for propane: instead of 1 liter of gasoline, it consumes 1.2;
  • Maintaining methane equipment is cheaper;
  • Condensation does not settle in the cylinder and reducer;
  • . Domestic propane contains sulfur, which quickly spoils the oil;
  • Methane is lighter than air, so it instantly dissipates during leaks, unlike propane, which accumulates, resulting in an explosion at the slightest spark, and you can even be poisoned by it;
  • Methane is more stable in operation at low temperatures - which in our realities is a powerful argument.
However, nothing is perfect in the world. Accordingly, when installing methane equipment, you must agree to certain inconveniences and some additional costs.

Fly in the ointment: Despite all the advantages, methane also causes troubles. Firstly, the equipment for it is initially more expensive, although subsequent maintenance pays for this investment. Secondly, it is much heavier than propane-butane, and the cylinders are only cylindrical and take up more space.

The engine power drops noticeably (with propane there are practically no losses). You will have to refuel more often. And the saddest thing is that there are significantly fewer gas stations for methane than for propane.

Equipment

We won’t talk about the first generation, called the gas carburetor - this is already prehistoric scrap metal. It's unlikely that anyone else is installing it. Most often they install the 2nd and 4th generation. The second, also known as a "lambda control system", is designed for cars with fuel injection and is equipped with a single oxygen sensor with a catalytic converter. It is also installed on more budget cars, even carburetor ones.

The fourth is a “gas injector”, with two sensors, meets European standards and will be a worthy addition for even business-class cars.

Of the manufacturers, the most reliable are Dutch. Their equipment does not break down for 10 years. It might not break down even longer if it were not for the mercaptan added to the gas for olfactory leak detection and corroding the gaskets. In second place are the Italians.

Install gas cylinder equipment (LPG), which allows you to use cheaper fuel. This is especially true in times of crisis, when the issue of saving often comes to the fore. However, in order to achieve real savings, and not a lot of problems, you need to know which gas equipment is better to install. There are many modifications of such equipment, as well as many brands under which the equipment is produced. Let's consider the basic principles of choice.

Many car owners today are thinking about installing gas equipment.

Fundamental point

Before you apply for an LPG installation, you should decide what specific type of fuel you will use. By the term “gas,” motorists mean two different types of fuel. The most common is a liquefied propane-butane mixture, sold at every second gas station. This is what most people who are going to install HBO talk about. However, there is an alternative - compressed natural gas, that is, methane gas, which has completely different combustion characteristics.

Methane has a high combustion temperature and provides high engine power, but it has a number of significant disadvantages:

  • Complete lack of lubricating properties, leading to early wear of the cylinder-piston group;
  • High explosion hazard, requiring the use of many precautions;
  • The need to install many large cylinders to ensure a large power reserve;
  • Small number of specialized ones (CNG filling stations).

Therefore, experts advise installing on cars namely propane gas equipment, which does not have a negative effect on the engine resource and does not require complete refusal from free space in the trunk. Equipment for working on methane, which provides a significant reduction in fuel costs, is much more often installed on commercial vehicles.

Standards

If you want to find out which gas equipment better, you should pay attention to its standard (generation). The first generation LPG is produced exclusively for low-power carburetor engines - it is equipped with a control with a vacuum valve that regulates the fuel supply. It is not possible to install it on injection power units, since the engine will operate extremely unstable, and the intake system valves will become unusable after 5–10 thousand kilometers.

The second generation of HBO is distinguished by the simplest electronically controlled, thanks to which it can be installed on injection engines. There are no additional injectors, and the fuel is supplied through a solenoid valve. Its key feature is the ability to be installed exclusively on metal intake manifolds. For example, Chevrolet Lanos can be equipped with a similar gas equipment, while modern AvtoVAZ products cannot.

The third generation is a universal option that is suitable for any injection car. This type of gas equipment also does not have injectors, but it imitates their operation thanks to a special electronic unit (emulator). A significant advantage of the equipment is its low cost, and the disadvantage is relatively unstable operation and increased fuel consumption.

Until recently, the fourth generation of HBO was considered the most advanced - it involves the use of its own single-point injection nozzles into the intake manifold. The equipment is quite expensive and requires complex installation, but the results are worth the costs incurred:

  • Long service life;
  • Minimal motor wear;
  • Low fuel consumption;
  • Stability of combustion characteristics.

The 4th generation of HBO is gradually giving way to the fifth, in which single-point injection is replaced by distributed injection. Such a system makes it possible to bring the traction characteristics of the engine as close as possible to the parameters of operation on gasoline - the loss of power is rarely more than 5%.

Common brands

Experts believe that the best LPG is produced by the Dutch company Prins. It combines affordable cost, the ability to filter impurities found in fuel, as well as high throughput, allowing it to be installed. To understand why it is recommended to install just such a gas equipment, it is worth saying that it has the lowest failure rate according to statistics collected by official services. However, Prins products are counterfeited more often than others, so it is advisable to purchase them from large dealers rather than at car markets.

The second place in reliability is occupied by Tartarini gas equipment, produced in Italy. This famous brand supplies its installations to many world-famous manufacturers, including Chevrolet, Opel and FIAT, which is the best evidence of its quality. However, experts point to typical problems for Tartarini gas equipment - quickly failing solenoid valves and fragile polymer membranes. In addition, the equipment loses its functionality when oil impurities appear in the gas.

Third place went to the Italian corporation BRC, which supplies gas equipment of 2–5 generations. The devices provide high power and minimize fuel consumption, but have a number of design flaws. There are many reviews according to which BRC gas equipment cannot be combined with cars of certain brands - the result is wasted time and extra expenses. In addition, if impurities appear in the gas, such equipment will need servicing every 5–10 thousand kilometers, which will also require considerable costs.

If you are going to purchase not a ready-made LPG kit, but assemble the equipment yourself, you should pay attention to the injectors of the Japanese company Keihin. They are distinguished by high accuracy of dosing of the fuel mixture, as well as stable operation at any temperature characteristics. In addition, incidental contaminants, including solids and oils, do not cause significant damage to their internal components, which ensures excellent durability under all operating conditions. If you have to limit yourself in spending on gas equipment, you should choose Valtec or Matrix injectors. They are similar in reliability, but are slightly more sensitive to operating conditions.

The rating of HBO that meets consumer expectations does not include components produced in Turkey or the UAE. Their reliability leaves much to be desired - according to statistics, the failure rate by 3 years of operation reaches 50%. In addition, such gas equipment is very sensitive to the quality of the fuel - if the slightest solid impurities appear, they often fail within 15 thousand kilometers after installation, and oily substances in the gas significantly reduce engine power. It’s interesting that LPG installers in lately began to use deceptive schemes associated with the use of such components. The buyer is shown a gearbox or injectors manufactured by a large European enterprise, while the remaining parts are purchased from Turkish manufacturers - to avoid this, it is strongly recommended to buy installation kits yourself and require certificates that comply with the standard.

Additional Features

An indisputable fact is that LPG does not tolerate low temperatures very well and requires pre-warming of the engine with the supply of gasoline. However, many well-known manufacturers, including Tomasetto and Tartarini, produce equipment with accelerated warm-up to operating temperature. This system allows you to significantly reduce costs by reducing the consumption of expensive fuel. There are both LPG kits designed for operation in the Arctic climate, and intermediate options that can be used in central Russia.

When purchasing gas equipment, it is advisable to pay attention to the presence of a filter that ensures the removal of impurities from the liquid phase of the propane-butane mixture. It significantly reduces the number of breakdowns and also maintains constant traction characteristics of the motor. Additional accessories include an automatic valve for draining condensate and a sensor for the remaining fuel in the tank. The latter is rarely installed on HBO, since its readings are not accurate and its reliability is low.

Significant savings

Experts strongly recommend leaving 2nd and 3rd generation HBO for inexpensive domestic cars and used foreign cars of advanced age. It is better to install 4th and 5th generation equipment, which allows you to keep all engine parameters unchanged while significantly reducing fuel costs. If we talk about brands, it is better to give preference to Italian manufacturers who produce products that are well suited for the Russian market. And the ideal option for installing LPG is to contact an official dealership major manufacturer, where all work will take no more than half a day.
