Evgeniy started dancing at the age of 13. First educational institution in his choreographic education he became the Lyceum of Arts, then the Kiev Variety and Circus College. Already in his second year of study, Zhenya worked as part of the ballet, in the JB ballet, and starred in music videos famous performers(Natasha , Margot, etc.). Zhenya Kot entered the top 20 best dancers in Ukraine, and he deservedly received this status.

“After participating in “Everybody Dance!” A lot of cool and unforgettable events happened! - says Zhenya. - I took part in the all-Ukrainian tour “Everybody Dance!”, in which we traveled through about 35 cities. During the tour, my dream came true - I danced solo in front of more than three thousand spectators at the most big stage Ukraine! I started choreographing dance numbers and numbers of the original genre on the project “Ukraine’s Got Talent!” He played one of the main roles in the first Ukrainian 3D dance show “Baron Munchausen”. It turned out that in the image of Ramkopf he danced in more than 60 performances with full houses. Was invited to the creative group

Today Evgeniy has not only popularity, but also a huge base of knowledge and experience. Training with such masters of modern choreographic art as Francisco , Patrik Chen, Tovaris Wilson, Annes Kirpih, Ton Gretton, Nick Wlson, Sonya Tea, helped Zhenya master various dance styles at a professional level. Zhenya loves fishing and summer: “I would wear shorts and flip-flops all year round.”

In a frank conversation, the artist talked about why he connected his life with dancing and talked about his first professional defeat. He also admitted what the most romantic act he did for the sake of his beloved and what kind of relationship he is now in with his partner in “Dancing with Stars 2017” Nadya Dorofeeva.

How did you discover the world of dance?

— My parents said that I always loved music and was flexible since childhood. When I turned 11, I began to be interested in dancing. My friend and I spent the whole day listening to the Finnish group “Bomfunk MC’S” (it was electronic music with hip-hop elements) and trying to learn how to spin on our heads. And at the age of 12, I decided to change schools and, despite the fact that no one in my family danced, I decided to enter the Arts Lyceum.

Do you remember your first defeats and achievements in this area?

“I think my first achievement is that I was able to catch up with my peers at the lyceum in just a couple of months. And this despite the fact that I started learning the basics of dance only in the 8th grade, and they danced from the first. After just 2 years, I entered the Kiev Variety and Circus College with maximum scores.

But my first defeat was an injury. I was about 18 years old, and I was already working in ballet with Tina Karol. During one of the acrobatic stunts, I broke both hands right on stage. I had to finish the dance in which there were lifts with Tina - I couldn’t let the team down.

When the performance came to an end and I went off stage, my hands already looked like two swollen pucks. Of course, I didn’t go out to the public again that day. After the concert they put casts on both of my arms. But this was only the third concert on a tour with more than 20 performances planned, so after a couple of days I took off the cast and went on to work with Tina.

Do you think the ability to dance is a talent or is it a skill that is achieved through hard work?

- This is both talent and skill. To become professional dancer, you must have physical abilities, love for your work and great hard work. But if you want to dance for yourself, you have time and great desire, hard work will allow you to achieve excellent results.

Can any dancer become a choreographer? What else is needed for this?

- No, of course, not everyone. When I put on a number, I see the story and roughly understand how I want to tell it. It's always much easier to come up with a performance for someone. You see from the outside what works and what doesn’t, and you understand how the choreography can be improved.

But not all dancers know how to think in the right direction. For example, there are very strong performers who need to be given the right direction, tell a story, and they will bring their vision and unique style to it.

About the play “Vartovi Mriy”

In the show, you are both the choreographer and one of the main characters. Was it difficult to combine these roles?

— You always want more - there is no limit to perfection. It's hard for me to evaluate own work, only the viewer can do this objectively. Judging by the reaction of visitors to the performance, it seems to me that I am coping with my responsibilities both on stage and behind it.

Why did you choose the role of the evil dragon? Do you have any similarities with him?

- We hardly have similar character traits. In fact, for a long time we could not find a performer for this role, and I offered my candidacy. Kostya Tomilchenko said that I am too kind to embody an anti-hero. But the deadlines were running out, and I saw how this image needed to be played out, and I understood that I could do it.

What was the most difficult thing in preparing for the performance and, in particular, for the role?

— We launched the first season of the play with a team: me, Konstantin Tomilchenko, Maxim Pekny and Yuri Prystaetsky. We had a very tight deadline - I started working on my role when there was not much time left before the premiere.

It was difficult to master tricks on the pole, because I had never practiced on this apparatus before. I had the opportunity to launch the second and third seasons of “Vartov’s Dreams” on my own. And the main difficulty was that it was necessary to simultaneously monitor the entire process as a whole and have time to fulfill one’s own role.

How does Vartovi Mriy 2018 differ from previous seasons?

— Our lineup has almost completely changed this year. On main role homeless boy Max, I took two young performers at once - 11-year-old Nikita Malaki and 12-year-old Vlad Svyatogo.

This character is on stage almost all the time and at such a young age it is difficult to cope with such stress. Nikita and Vlad work in shifts.

We have made the makeup even more sophisticated - our artists were trained by the creator of makeup for such franchises as The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. So now my character looks even more terrifying.

About personal life

How did you meet your wife? Was it love at first sight?

— We met on the project “Ukraine’s Got Talent-7.” Natasha was a finalist, and I was the production director. I arrived at the first meeting tired, discussed the idea of the act with her, and agreed to meet the next day. And at the very first rehearsal I realized how lucky I was.

What's the most romantic thing you've ever done for your loved one?

“It seems to me that my most romantic act is yet to come.” I have already proposed to Natasha and I really want to have our wedding on the island of Tahiti. We were there a couple of months ago and literally fell in love with the incredible nature of this place. If I can do everything the way I want, this will be the most romantic thing for my beloved.

About participation in the show “Dance with Stars 2017”

A dance project recently ended. Would you like to come back again and still achieve victory?

- Of course, I would like to win. And if I return to this project, I will try to do everything to achieve what I want. Definitely. But if there was an opportunity to go back and change something, I would not change anything in our rooms with Nadya.

We reached the finals and fought for first place. We lost it to Natalya Mogilevskaya - and I believe that she deservedly received the title. No one worked as hard as she did, and no one wanted this victory as much as she did.

How were your rehearsals? Have there been conflicts and quarrels with Dorofeeva?

- No, she trusted me from the very beginning. I promised to take her to the finals, and that’s what happened. Nadya and I danced very quickly. I think that my tandem with Dorofeeva was the best in the entire history of “Dancing with Stars”. We did not have any conflicts during preparation.

Which number was the most difficult for you?

— The most difficult was the final number. We only rehearsed at night because of our schedules. We prepared one version of the production, but we didn’t like it. We did the second option - and again it was not what we wanted.

Then we changed the dramaturgy, I called my friends - wonderful choreographers Andrei Glushik and Yana Abraimova - they came to us from Europe at 2 am.

Nadya was sick then and slept with a fever on a bean bag chair in the hall. And my back hurt incredibly. We tried so many supports that I simply couldn’t lift her anymore. But despite this, Yana and Andrey helped a lot - and we managed to do everything as we wanted.

About relations with Nadya Dorofeeva

Was your spouse jealous of you? After all, there were a lot of rumors on the Internet about an affair with Dorofeeva?

- These were just rumors. Natasha is a professional. She helped us a lot and even criticized us during the rehearsal of the sexiest number - the rumba in the bathroom. She told us where we need to get closer to each other, where we need to make our gaze more passionate, so that the audience and judges believe us.

Didn’t Vladimir Dantes challenge you to a “serious manly conversation” about hot dancing with his wife?

— Vova and Natasha often came to our rehearsals and supported us. No one had any jealousy. After the project, I invited Dorofeeva and Dantes to “The House of Mysterious Benefits,” but Nadya could not come and we went to the show together with Vova. We had a great time!

Zhenya is a terrible perfectionist and esthete. He does not tolerate hackwork, he always strives for the ideal in business, but never finds it - because he is a perfectionist. Zhenya built the most big school aerial choreography. Literally and figuratively “built”. If I was mainly concerned with the program and content of the school, then he was able to turn the boiler room, which at that time was the Hangar, into a huge studio. Solved issues with heating, electricity, repairs... the real owner in our now house is Tata Art Hangar.
The cat doesn't like cats)) But for my sake he agreed to have two! Now we have fantastic Burmese: he is a Magician (aka Bandit), and she is a Fairy.

The long-awaited victory in the popular show was not easy for the guys. According to Zhenya and Mariam, sometimes rehearsals could last more than half a day, and it also happened that the dancers continued to practice despite injuries and poor health. Having heard from the lips of the project host Lilia Rebrik that they had won, Zhenya and Mariam at first did not believe their ears. By the way, the boys’ curator Alexei Litvinov assured journalists a few minutes before the final that if his players won, he would get drunk with happiness. At the end of the concert, the guys who participated in other seasons and I went to a restaurant. There we rested until the morning: we sang, danced, remembered the stories that happened to them on the project,” Mariam shares her impressions.

During the project, the personal lives of the dancers also changed. It turned out that the charismatic couple is together not only on stage, but also in life. "Everybody Dance! Return of the Heroes" is a project in which participants from four seasons will compete in a dance battle for the title of best couple. Twelve pairs are divided into teams, each of which is supervised by a mentor. We know that your character, Ramkopf, is mean, cunning, fearful, and also a fisherman. In one of the interviews, you said that in life you are not very similar to your character, with the exception of one thing - you, like him, love women too much...

Ramkopf loves female attention and gives his attention to women. I also really love female attention (probably like every man), and I’m ready to give mine to all the women in the world... For example, at rehearsals I can’t resist going up to a girl and telling her that she smells delicious or she is so beautiful today.

And they willingly believe your seductive compliments?

Yes. After all, I always tell them the truth! I just really like to give girls my attention and receive the same in return.

What's going on in your personal life now? Do you have a girlfriend?

No. It was, but it passed. I work a lot, everything changes quickly...

Do you use girls for your own personal purposes?

No, I'm not like that at all! I am a monogamous person. All my breakups in relationships were initiated not by me, but by my halves. I don’t even know why everything turned out this way...

What do you value in girls?

I like simplicity and naturalness. I don't like too much makeup. I don't like dyed hair. It’s good when beauty is as natural as possible. Modern technologies they work wonders, but for me naturalness is above all! For example, girls spend a lot of money on good cosmetics, supposedly emphasizing their beauty, but in this way they kill it - they age faster...

Are you probably against plastic surgery?

It depends in what cases. If this is really necessary: some kind of accident or something else, then, of course, plastic surgery can help a person... I am not against such intervention. But Botox, silicone and so on, to create a seemingly “beautiful” body, are superfluous. I think this is ugliness and utopia!

Was it difficult for you to get into the character of Ramkopf? When you were invited to the show “Baron Munchausen”, maybeDid you see yourself as someone else?

When I was invited to the project, I didn’t know that there would be a character like Ramkopf. I didn’t count on any role at all, because I was in no way suited to the Baron and Theophilus (and I myself understood this), but about the other main male characters I didn’t know then. I thought that I was simply invited to join the corps de ballet, and that suited me quite well... I really liked the idea of this project, so I really wanted to dance. But after they said that I was casting for the role of Ramkopf, I began to intensively study this character.

I must say that it was very difficult for me. The first months of rehearsals I didn’t understand at all who he was, this Ramkopf, and what he should be like... I didn’t like playing him.

Have you watched the film “That Same Munchausen” to get acquainted with the character?

Certainly. But in our performance it is a little different. In a film or play, using speech, everything is much simpler. The character's character can be conveyed and shown in completely different ways than in dance. Here I have to show all the emotions with my plasticity, facial expressions, and gestures. And this is more difficult.

How difficult is it to feel the yoke of a negative character? Aren't you afraid that you will be labeled as an actor who plays negative characters?

I'm not afraid. Yes, sometimes it happens that I get into character so much that I make fun of the guys the way Ramkopf would have done it. But this is an excess of my image, nothing more. I am sure that after the end of the performances, I will completely “move away” from this character and return to “myself”.

Probably, such impressionability regarding transformation on stage is characteristic of all beginning actors, and then everything will go like clockwork: act it out and forget it?

We'll probably see.

Do you have any other hobbies in life besides dancing and girls?

I like to stage various choreographic numbers, in other words, directing. For example, on the STB channel for the projects “Everyone Dances” and “Ukraine’s Got Talent” I have already worked as, first, an assistant director, and then as a director. On the second season of “Ukraine’s Got Talent,” I was hired as an assistant to a creative producer at the STB TV channel. During these two projects, I was involved in staging various choreographic and circus acts, which I enjoy no less than dancing. I understand that in the future I can grow from a dancer into a choreographer, which is what I will work on.
